6th grade mentality

Today i volunteered at summers school for field day. It was amazing time Millie and I volunteered at the catch the rain station where you used cups to try and catch water from the sprinkler like rain! It was fun to watch how much the kids enjoyed the day of fun, sun and water!

The kindergartner's were so excited if they were like summer the probably didn't sleep the night before everything was fun and exciting no matter how it went or what happened. Every child was smiling and you could see the love and pride flowing out of each one.

That being said I was sssssssssooooo disappointed in the 6th graders, in my mind this was their last chance to be elementary school kids, next year they will be big middle schoolers! They unfortunately didn't see it my way they were to "COOL" for the days activities it was one more thing they had to check of their list before moving on. As i watched them complete the task with minimal effort trying to remain as "cool" as possible while chasing rain, it dawned on me................ don't i do the same thing?

I love my children but lately nothing seems new everything is another thing to check off my list before moving on to the next stage. I haven't stopped to marvel at the effort and time my children have put in to learning the new things like reading and potty training, i have been unimpressed by their efforts expecting them to learn and that is that. I have a 6th grade mentality and i want to change! I want to be a kindergartner shaking in excitement for my children's accomplishments enjoying the time with them and not just checking off the milestones as they pass. So here it is

I AM GOING TO SLOW DOWN, I AM GOING TO ENJOY MY LIFE LIKE A KINDERGARTNER!!!!!!!!!!!

Its going to be....

a busy summer.

Changes.....

At Christmas time I hit bottom when I got on a scale for the first time in months and was as heavy as Ryan. 178 lbs and was bigger and heavier than the day before I had Millie. My unhealthiness showed in every part of my life. I was sad and hurting.

Ryan and I sat down and talked out some of the issues i was having and i made some BIG changes. I changed our diet, began working out and started getting more active. Well its been 6 months and the changes have been amazing. I have lost over 30 lbs i have dropped from a size 14/16 to a size 8. I have been running and running a lot (at least for me) And i did something 6 months ago i would never have thought possible I ran a 6k and a 5k. they were both great experiences and worth the months of pain and hours of fighting the urge to eat cookies.

The 6k I ran with the family Ryan ran next to me pushing the stroller and carrying summer on his shoulders when she got tired. Having my family next to me every step was the perfect motivation. Hearing my children cheer me on was all the motivation I needed to finish. It was cool cloudy morning the PERFECT first race!!

The 5k was a completely different story, it was like confronting all of my problems by myself, it was over 90 degrees it was a afternoon run and I ran by myself. Each step was a struggle and my only motivator was myself and knowing the girls were waiting for me at the end. It was emotional and with only one water station very exhausting.I fought with inner "demons" urging me to walk, anger over the pain i still felt while running, sadness over the loneliness i felt running alone. In the end I finished and I WON, I won the battle!

I cried and cried and cried but the tears were sweet, because Ryan and the girls were there and proud making the whole thing worth it!!!

Next on the list a 1/2 marathon in September or October (hopefully if i can train in Israel)

CRABS

Memorial day weekend we went to the Chesapeake Bay with Ernie and his friends and chowed down on some very yummy crab. The food was great, the view awesome, the experience was just what we wanted.

Millie at 2..

Millie turned 2 and i decided to write about her at this age (got the idea from Melissa).

Millie,
you are a beautiful child inside and out....I love the time we spend together and watching you grow.
Love you Mommy

Millie's hair is unruly..and she is tall...
Millie picks  her nails and then scratches her check with them.
She really love Curious George and with her limited vocabulary sounds just like him. Every morning she watches George with a bowl of cheerios.
She is neat and organized always pointing out if i missed a spot while cleaning.
Her vocab is finally growing and she understands everything!
She is a rule follower. She likes to carry a backpack.
She colors very unusual she makes little circles all over the page, 100s of them.
She skips while she runs. She loves Summer and wants to be like her.
When she barks it is very deep and masculine and when she meows it is very high pitched and girlie.
She hates when she thinks someone or something is getting hurt, She bursts into tears and becomes overwhelmed.
She loves babies!!! The real things and her dolls.
She is a daddy's girl first a foremost and and Ernie's girl second. (but she still loves me too!)
She is a homebody, not all the time but when she is done at the park or pool or friends house she will let you know she wants to go home. Its not always nicely usually its like this "HOME!!!!"
She dislikes the heat I mean REALLY dislikes it and always ask for the air conditioner when she gets in the car.
She doesn't eat anything green, not even green candy. She doesn't eat much seasoning either because she thinks its dirt. She still has a sweet tooth but she doesn't fight for sweets anymore she throws fits for them.
She is trying to potty train and is going very well!
She loves Lella (Cinderella) panties.
When you ask Millie what her name is she will tell you it is Millie Bug because she wants to be a lady bug!
